The crib is down

all the way down... after she gave us that scare (but not so much so that we didn't take a pic of it) of her standing up in her crib. We took the bumper off and the mattress off and lowered her crib to the bottom setting. This took quite a bit of effort, as the holes didn't seem to line up as nicely as for the middle and top settings. It's a bit harder to slide the side rail up and down because the mattress is now up against where you're supposed to push in to hook and unhook it (apparently it's Daddy-proof). It's also harder to put her down into the crib because you have to bend your back a bit to get her in (ok, that's only my problem for being height-challenged). We'll adjust...

In other news, she's been practicing her "d" and hard "th" sounds (as in "the" not "thumb") as well as "y". It almost sounded like she said "daddy" but it came out as "dadadathadathathadadee" or something similar.

Sunday we were out the entire day, from 10-9, so no diapers saved today, it was an all disposable day, sad for the environment.

Crib updates

I forgot to mention that G also got her crib lowered last week. Here she is helping Daddy.

Here she is not sleeping in her crib. She looks so proud and happy. Mommy and Daddy were less thrilled, but thought it was funny enough to take the picture.Last night when we put her down for bed, we had to re-put her down several times as we kept finding her standing up. Finally we gave up, and so did she.

In other news, we took G to the doctor yesterday, I finally called to get advice about her sleeping less, recent weight loss, and the little rash on her face. The doctor says her sleeping less is normal as she's more active, and didn't notice any weight loss. At the doctor's office, G weighed in at 15 pounds, 8 ounces, so that was exciting! Less exciting was that she is just under the 8th percentile. The alarming news, however, was that the doctor thinks that G's rash is ringworm, a fungal rash that is infectious. She wanted to prescribe an anti-fungal cream which will take 2 months of twice daily application. I said I'd prefer to wait it out. After going home and of course, researching ringworm, I'm fairly convinced that she does NOT have it. I think it's just food/drooling-related eczema. We have her 9-month appointment coming up in a few weeks anyways, so we will see G's regular pediatrician (who wasn't in when we went in, saw a different ped) and see. As of this morning, the rash is barely noticeable and really doesn't look like the pics of ringworm that I've seen online.

Lots of updates!

We took her to a pumpkin patch to take some pictures. It was after Halloween, so there weren't many pumpkins left, oh well, I guess next year we will be more on top of things.

We also went to a party at the Little Gym, where G takes classes. G liked showing off to Daddy all the things she can do. Here she is crawling through a tunnel to Daddy. She got bored the second time around and Daddy came in to help coax her out. She was heading for a little container of bubbles she "won" in one of the carnival games at the party. As usual, she wanted to suck on it (but we didn't let her).

And jumping on the low bars. Yesterday in class, we combined a low beam with these bars so G could "walk" along the beam holding onto the bars on each side.
G loved playing with Daddy and showing off all her new skills. Is that a wink?

We tried to put G down for a nap the other day and she wanted to have no part of it. After some time passed and it was clear she wasn't going to sleep, S went into G's room to get her and this is what she found. E rushed in and I told him to get the camera. You can't tell from the picture, but when she saw us, she had this big smile on her face, like she was so proud of herself!

The short story is that G finally figured out that one of the ties (in the corner) of the bumper was torn off so she could pull the whole thing down. I used a large  binder clip to clip the tie to the crib railing, but she managed to pull that off too. After much searching around the house, I finally found a needle and thread and attempted to sew the tie back on properly. So far so good. We also lowered her crib to the middle setting, but I'm sure soon enough we will have to lower it all the way down.

Feeding update: G is doing much better. We no longer have to strip her down to her onesie nor do we have to hold her hands down (much). While she still sometimes fusses, she will open her mouth and lean in when the spoon is in front of her. We are trying to do 2 feedings per day. We do, however, still think she's teething, as she's still more fussy than normal.
